KIMET is a space created to help in the natural process of the development of your baby and/or child, where parents, grandparents, relatives or caregivers who have direct contact during the growth of the child will learn how through music and in a timely manner stimulate areas of integral development.
If you are passionate about teaching and music and you are a therapist or teacher, these classes are for you.
Use the neurological benefits that music provides in your classroom, daycare or therapy sessions. You as a teacher therapist or childcare provider can have tools to facilitate your work.
Over the years, psychology, pedagogy and neuroscience have investigated and proven the benefits that music has on the brain. Not only to facilitate the use of each of the brain areas, whether psychomotor, language, emotions, or cognitive, but also as an efficient means to facilitate the combination of all the areas and neuronal connections and thus observe better results in our work with children. It also allows parents to enjoy and socialize, creating a network of support, mutual accompaniment, and empathy.
Karen began her baby and early childhood classes teaching Early Musical Stimulation and Musical Initiation 21 years ago and studied psychology with a psycho-analytic focus, in Mexico City.Prior to finishing her degree, she focused her studies on child psychology, pedagogy and psychoanalysis at the Emmanuel Kant University Center and CIEL (Research Center and Lacanian Studies). Subsequently she took courses to teach Musical Pedagogy, at the Artene Institute, being Assistant Teacher in Early Musical Stimulation Groups, as well as courses for educators of the Tort Method, taught by the creator of the Method, Mr. César Tort, who taught the courses and personally supervised Ms Karen's groups.Karen also studied educator courses for 8 consecutive years at Artene Institute and the National School of Music, such as Musical Education and Dalcroze, Musical Theory, Singing and Piano among others, becoming a teacher of Early Musical Stimulation and Musical Initiation for 7 years, working with children with and without Special Needs. She also worked as a teacher as well as an assistant guide at Montessori Tepepan and Montessori Peña Pobre, Mexico City.
She started Music Stimulation classes for babies in "Sala Chopin" and later created Summer courses and theme parties for babies with a Musical Pedagogic approach, and private lessons.
In 2008, she participated in the FLADEM (Latin American Festival of Music Education) in the City of Merida, Yucatan, teaching courses, internationally, to Latin American Educators in Early Musical Stimulation. That same year she taught classes to educators of Early Music Stimulation and Music Initiation and/or preschool, at the Artene Institute in Mexico.
Shortly after, living in the United States, she has worked in Therapy Centers as an Interventionist using Musical Pedagogy in her therapies, as well as, ABA (Applied Behavioral Analysis) therapies. During this time she taught a class to a group of ABA therapists at Easter Seals on how to apply music during their therapies and led a couple of workshops for daycare providers at Children's Development Center (CDR) in Oxnard, California.
With this vast knowledge and experience, Karen has now created "KIMET" (Karen: Musical Initiation and Early Stimulation) where classes of early musical stimulation and musical initiation are given to babies as young as 3 months to kids of 7 years of age.
Currently, Karen plays the role of Care Navigator for the network of care led by the Partnership for Safe Families and Communities of Ventura County, the designated Child Abuse Prevention Council, under the ACEs Aware grant from the state of California.
